Seeing the Unseen Body

Back when I still lived in Japan, there was an Oriental medicine teacher I occasionally attended workshops with. He was somewhat avant-garde, performing techniques like using needles to disperse stagnated blood in the affected area to alleviate pain, discovering new acupoints which had never recognized, or using a gold stick held by the patient to locate tumors by matching it to a paper representation of the human body. He even reportedly treated Sony’s chairman, Akio Morita, until his final days. Everything he said and presented was always fresh and surprising to me at that time.

One such revelation was his method for addressing shoulder pain in amputees.

In essence, his conventional treatments targeting the visible body proved ineffective in alleviating shoulder pain in individuals without an arm. Surprisingly, the key to relief lay in treating the area where the missing limb would have been.

This anecdote stayed with me for so long.

From a traditional perspective, such practices may seem absurd within the confines of materialistic Western medicine. However, various modalities in vibrational medicine and alternative therapies, rooted in the concept of “energy,” offer explanations.

In Western traditions, this energy is akin to the etheric body, while Eastern medicine refers to it as “qi” or “prana.” It exists as subtle energy matter, operating beyond the spectrum of human perception yet intricately connected to the visible body.

Kirlian photography, attributed to Nikola Tesla and later Mr. and Mrs. Kirlians, provides insight into this phenomenon. By applying high-frequency to an object, it captures its luminescent aura. Remarkably, even a severed leaf emits light, suggesting a deeper understanding of treating the unseen body, as observed by my teacher mentioned earlier. (YouTube video)

Awareness of this unseen realm, whether labeled as “energy” in the West or “qi” in the East, is fundamental to unlocking our inherent human capabilities. I feel this is what we lost connection. This extends beyond the physical body, influencing all aspects of life, from matter to plants, food, and beyond.

Research in this field extends beyond New Age circles and is pursued by emerging medical professionals worldwide. In Europe, in particular, many doctors incorporate the diagnosis and treatment of the unseen body into their practice.

As we shift from Newtonian physics to a worldview aligned with Einstein and quantum mechanics, acknowledging these “unseen bodies” becomes imperative. Rather than viewing our bodies solely as material entities, directing our awareness towards these subtle energies is essential for holistic well-being.
