Know Your Poison, Know Yourself

I have pondered, experimented with, and discussed what health truly means. At this point, I believe the ultimate truth boils down to two points: **”Know the poison, know yourself.“**

Chasing health itself is inherently misguided. In a sense, “discomfort” is also part of health.

Discomfort is fundamentally a signal from the body. The body strives to return to its natural state when it deviates. Most discomfort is part of this process, so there can be no health without it. They are inextricably linked, like yin and yang.

The key is how one responds to this discomfort. To maintain the balance between “discomfort” and “health,” I believe it is crucial to “know the poison, know yourself.”

Know Your Poison

Over the past few decades, our environment has become inundated with various poisons.

Food contains pesticides, herbicides, GMOs, additives, and artificial sugars. Water is contaminated with chlorine, Fluorides, lead, and arsenic. The air is filled with pollutants and radiation. Moreover, numerous harmful chemicals are used in personal care products, cosmetics, detergents, containers, paints, and clothing.

Medications, intended to cure human ailments, often cause adverse effects, resulting in more harm than good.

Our bodies are equipped with an excellent detoxification system. However, considering the span of human evolution, our bodies cannot keep up with this tsunami of toxins. It is evident that this is a significant cause of the surge in chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, kidney and liver disorders, gastrointestinal issues, rheumatism, and osteoporosis over the past few decades.

Therefore, we must thoroughly understand these poisons. What are the toxins? Where are they found? There are obvious toxins, as well as disguised toxins that masquerade as beneficial. Some toxins are avoidable, while others, like airborne toxins and frequency-related toxins, are not easily avoidable. The first step toward health is to avoid visible and avoidable toxins as much as possible.

Poisons do not only enter through the mouth. Since your body is closely connected to your mind and spirit, you need to recognize mental toxins, toxic thoughts, and toxic attitudes. Excessive endurance towards these toxins can be worse than smoking or drinking. Relationships with abusive partners or bosses can be powerful toxins that erode you. If such relationships exist, you need the courage to leave them. Consider negative emotions as signals of toxin intrusion.

Health is not just about physical well-being. Humans are holistic beings, and the body, mind, spirit, and heart are interconnected. These aspects of you can be improved or worsened by your environment and lifestyle.

Broadly understanding poisons and gaining knowledge about visible and invisible toxins, is indispensable for true health. This “health” is not merely physical well-being but becoming the “best version of yourself.”
