Water is life itself.

  • The human body is made up of 70-75% water on average, with some estimates going as high as 90%.
  • Water is deeply mysterious, and the more we explore it, the more we discover about its properties.
  • Water can store energy, whether positive or negative, and it carries that energy into our bodies. Drinking contaminated water can transfer that negative energy directly to us.
  • Water is the foundation of all life. Life originated from water, and without it, none of us would be here.

My deeper dive into water began when I came across an article in the San Francisco Chronicle during some research. The headline read:

“Bay Area tap water has 13 potentially dangerous contaminants, according to a study.”

It wasn’t just about common chemicals like chlorine. The article revealed that toxins like hexavalent chromium, chloroform, and arsenic—substances that, in significant amounts, can be lethal—were found in water in nearby towns.

Hexavalent chromium, a known carcinogen, can be fatal in doses as small as 0.5 grams. It damages DNA and can lead to colon cancer, stomach cancer, and liver damage. Chloroform, another dangerous chemical, is the stuff of crime shows, often portrayed as a tool for knocking people unconscious (though that’s largely fiction).

As someone who values health, this was alarming. I don’t want to be ingesting hexavalent chromium daily however much that is.

So, let’s explore water in more detail. First, let’s take a look at the nutrients in water that actually benefit us.

Nutrients:

Calcium
Essential for forming bones and teeth, with about 99% of calcium in the body stored in bones and teeth.

Sodium
The main component of salt, sodium is an essential electrolyte that regulates the body’s water balance. It also supports nerve transmission, muscle contraction, and blood pressure regulation.

Potassium
Works with sodium to regulate blood pressure and is essential for heart function and nerve transmission.

Magnesium
Involved in many enzyme reactions, magnesium plays a key role in energy production, nerve transmission, and contributes to bone health and muscle function.

Lithium
Recent studies show lower levels of lithium in people who commit suicide. Could trace amounts of lithium in water help maintain mental balance?

In short, water is an essential part of daily life and contains minerals vital to our health. Good water intake is crucial for maintaining optimal body function.

Negative ions, often considered beneficial, are also generated from water, which is why areas like waterfalls or coastlines are rich in them.

We drink water every day, use it for cooking, and it makes up 70% of our bodies. If the water we consume is toxic, it’s clear that it will eventually harm us.

Is there something dangerous lurking in the water we drink every day? In the next chapter, we’ll dive into that question.
