Reboot Your Body

Just as prolonged use of a computer without rebooting gradually slows down its performance—tasks take longer, and anomalies arise—regular reboots are essential.

Likewise, the human body requires occasional reboots.

Although vacations and light detoxes are often termed “resets,” they offer only temporary effects. Sometimes, a complete shutdown and discharge are necessary for a thorough reboot. This process can significantly rejuvenate diminished bodily functions.

Some instances where I felt my body got rebooted.

One such occasion was during a week-long Shiatsu retreat at a Zen temple. While I had participated in similar Zen retreats previously, the daily Shiatsu training sessions had a synergistic effect, greatly enhancing purification. Living in seclusion with monks in the depths of the mountains, consuming very modest meals, and engaging in Zazen for a minimum of two to three hours daily, along with daily acupressure training sessions, contributed to this experience.

The most notable change was the surprising amount of waste elimination despite minimal food intake. It continued to be expelled in such quantities that it resembled illness, gradually adopting a yellowish hue akin to that of a newborn’s stool (laughs). Additionally, my senses became unusually sensitive to sounds and smells. I could discern the scent of someone’s perfume from about 50 meters away, and I could directly sense people’s energy, often discerning their predominant emotions. Furthermore, when observing others’ bodies during Shiatsu training, I could perceive a dark haze hovering over areas of discomfort. It felt akin to possessing special abilities, though perhaps these senses are inherent in everyone; they’re merely dulled.

As the body undergoes purification through certain means, commonplace items like dishwashing detergent at home start to emit unusually strong artificial odors. I become hypersensitive to commercially available shampoos, cosmetics containing chemicals, and body lotions. Allergies to cigarette smoke and exhaust fumes may also manifest. Sensations such as detecting toxins in food before consumption or reacting to previously benign foods are also common.

These heightened senses epitomize the refined primal instincts within us, a defense mechanism evolved to detect poisons and uphold highest bodily functions.

One simple method that anyone can employ for a body reboot in their daily lives, which I find most effective, is: Intermittent Fasting

It essentially involves extending the interval between dinner and the first meal of the following day to over 12 hours, effectively shutting down bodily functions.

Fasting has been practiced since ancient times as a ritual in various religions, serving as purification for the body, mind, and soul. Many people can experience the sensation of a reboot in their bodies through this practice.

I intend to delve into intermittent fasting in more detail soon.
