Ailments that don’t necessitate a visit to the doctor – addressing these “non-diseases” is crucial.

What is Health Coach?

I am certified by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition as a Health Coach.

What is Health Coach like?

Much like a baseball or soccer coach, they utilize techniques such as, “Cut out sugar,” “Run 2 kilometers daily,” or “Try putting jalapeño on your cigarettes, alright?” all while brandishing their figurative whip. Wanting to lose weight fundamentally boils down to determination. For those aiming to shed pounds, breakfast might include pickled plums and miso soup, lunch could be a salad, dinner skipped altogether, with sweating profusely during jogging as the solution. You may know what needs to be done but find it challenging to execute? That’s where the coach steps in to discipline your resolve.

Feeling demotivated yet? 😂

None of us truly enjoys doing what we’re told. We’re inclined to pursue what we want and see it through. When it comes to aspiring for health, a Health Coach aids you in identifying your personal definition of “health” and works alongside you to achieve it.

So, what is “health”?

It’s more than just the absence of illness, right?

In medical settings, you’re not deemed “sick” until a diagnosis is given. Yet, your body continually signals discomfort, manifesting as obesity, chronic headaches, perpetual coldness, weakened immunity, insomnia, digestive issues, brain fog, persistent fatigue, susceptibility to illness, irritability, and more. In our toxin-laden modern world, these have unfortunately become the norm.

Take diabetes, affecting one in four people in Japan, and one out of three in the US for example. It often begins with symptoms like cognitive fog or fatigue long before reaching the diagnostic threshold. Similarly, heart disease, still the leading cause of death in America, and cancer, the primary cause of death in Japan, along with Alzheimer’s and numerous autoimmune diseases, don’t emerge overnight. They silently and steadily erode our health.

The silver lining is that these discomforts and diseases can often be alleviated or prevented with minor lifestyle adjustments. There are numerous instances where they’ve been completely reversed post-diagnosis.

A Health Coach takes a holistic view of an individual’s life, striving to optimize it by balancing various lifestyle elements – diet, smoking, drinking, sleep, exercise, job satisfaction, relationships, romance, family dynamics, and financial situation. I firmly believe that without addressing your life holistically, true health remains elusive.

In the United States, Health Coaches are gaining recognition for their role in providing lifestyle care to patients outside the reach of conventional medicine. With lifestyle-related and adult diseases on the rise, the current fragmented medical system falls short. Health Coaches, working alongside doctors, nurses, dietitians, etc., are starting to revolutionize patient care. Advanced treatments adopted by institutions like UCSF and Stanford University hospitals, as well as lifestyle medical systems developed by IT companies, highlight this shift.
